Viitals Lifestyle Cafe

Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association (OSHNA) held its annual Great Neighborhood Yard Sale this weekend. Besides the incredible deals to be found on may sidewalks and driveways, was the map itself. Jeff and Helen Harmon put a lot of work into organizing this neighborhood event and the map is a treasure. Why? Because it's a self-guided tour of the area from one corner to the other. Every time I drive this map I find something new. This weekend was no exception; I found Viitals Lifestyle Cafe.

Disclaimer: it was easy to find. They advertised on the map. The big green star was a dead giveaway. Treasure maps don't always have to be cryptic.

I was curious about what it meant to be a "lifestyle" cafe. Which lifestyle was it supporting? If you ask the owner Ivan, you'll hear about how each item on menu, even the snacks, are all designed from the ground up to be complete meals. They all avoid the 8 major allergens and everything is either vegan or vegetarian. If your lifestyle is healthy, protein-balanced meals, even his crackers will make you happy. If your lifestyle is avoiding allergens like wheat, nuts, milk, soy, and others, you'll find things at Viitals that can replace foods you've gone without.

Viitals is at 6605 N Florida Ave, right next to Stephanos Pizza. You can have a look at the menu at their website, viitals.com. I had the unexpected sandwich with the Calorie Burn Venga. The texture of the bread is a little different than what I'm used to, since it's gluten-free, however the flavor was good and the ingredients well-matched. Next time, I'm going to try one of their salads.
