Add together the Sulphur Springs Tower, a giant inflatable whatsit, the Hillsborough River, and the Arc of the Covenant and what do you get?  A whole lotta fun.
 
Every year , Tampa Theater hosts free movies around Tampa shown on a giant inflatable movie screen.  This family-friendly event is well attended. Bring your own folding chairs, picnic basket, and frisbees to the park and enjoy the feel of a drive-in movie without the exhaust fumes.
 
If you are hunting out inexpensive things to do, this one is hard to beat.

Tampa Theatre’s traveling outdoor picture show, Sunset Cinema, enters its second season bringing free, large-scale, family-friendly outdoor movie screenings to neighborhoods throughout the area. Last year’s events attracted over 6,000 people who enjoyed picnics, Frisbees and movies under the stars in public parks.  Tampa Theatre produces the events using a giant 40-foot inflatable screen and high-definition high-intensity digital projectors. Admission is always free.
 
Guests picnic, play Frisbee, listen to music and enjoy the evening in a safe, relaxed atmosphere two hours prior to the start of the movie. Guests are invited to bring blankets, pillows, backrests, low-profile beach chairs and picnic baskets.  Tampa Theatre offers “Cinema Snacks” for sale including popcorn, soft drinks, bottled water, candy and select Tampa Theatre souvenirs. Due to park restrictions, alcoholic beverages, plastic tarps, and tables are not permitted.
