My Seminole Heights is here!
Greetings. My hope for My Seminole Heights is to create a neighborhood news site that focuses on those things that exemplify why we choose to live here. We all know that there are things in Seminole Heights that need improving; people talk about them every day. In an attempt to find what is right in the neighborhood, let us start talking about those things that we enjoy and love about living here.
I sometimes get so energized to tackle the tough issues that we face around there that I forget to tackle the "fluff". Fluff is important too!
It requires mentioning that while my home is physically within Old Seminole Heights, I live in all of Seminole Heights. My favorite restaurant is in Southeast Seminole Heights. My favorite bakery is in South Seminole Heights. I have friends living in all areas. If we refuse to let a freeway divide us, why let something as invisible and weightless as an artificial boundary on a map divide us?
So to all my friends and neighbors, hello again.
Hello Shawn - I really like your new website for Seminole Heights! This is such a neat old-fashioned neighborhood. Driving around Seminole Heights almost makes you feel like you have stepped back in time, especially when you are going down Central Avenue!! I am a proud Seminole Heights native, and have always felt that this neighborhood has something special - a true small-town feel to it, and it really is a hidden treausure within the city. I am hoping the new restaurants coming in will add alot of new flavor to the area!
John,
For such a large city, Seminole Heights has maintained its small town feel. We have so much to offer our neighbors and businesses if only we'd stop while driving past our own borders and take a good look at all the great reasons to stay right here.
Glad to see you here and hope you'll share some of your favorite things about your native neighborhood with those of us who transplanted here. Dare I say "suburban refugees"?
Cheers,
Shawn
